Manchester United have had an informal offer for Sevilla star Jules Kounde rejected by La Liga side, according to reports. The France international is currently absent at Euro 2020. But a move to Old Trafford is at stake as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to strengthen that squad.
Manchester United want a new defender.
Although they have seen Harry Maguire shine, Solskjaer is aware that he needs an upgrade on Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly to accompany the England international.
United are reportedly pushing for the signing of Real Madrid star Raphael Varane, who is set to leave the Bernabeu for a new challenge elsewhere.
Yet Duncan Castles, speaking on The Reach Plc Transfer Window Podcast, claimed that an offer for Kounde was turned down after “informal discussions” with the club.
He said: “Yes, Kounde has been on that list of center-backs they want to add to fix Harry Maguire’s problem for some time now.
“I can tell you that they have contacted Seville and had informal talks with them about the purchase of Kounde this summer.

“And they offered to offer 45 million euros (38 million) in transfer fees for the player.
“Seville is not happy with this. Monchi, their sporting director, told United he had no way of selling the player for € 45million.
Castles went on to claim that the La Liga giants would rather cash in on € 65million instead.
And it remains to be seen if the Red Devils will go that high, especially with Varane still their No.1 target right now.
United are looking to spend big as they seek a first Premier League title since 2013, when Sir Alex Ferguson ruled the roost.
And their summer is shaping up to be a positive start with the Red Devils closing in on Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, four years after trying to capture him for the first time.

“It is a great honor to be here and I am very happy to join this group,” he said.

“The France A team, it’s hard to say when it became a goal,” he continued.
“Maybe when I got to Sevilla, and I played more and more.
